The Influx Trust Charity held its first hackathon in 2015 at which the ‘UN Social 500’ leaderboard idea was first developed. The project provides recognition for the UN’s social media champions, valuing their online influence and energy. The trust is now backing the leaderboard project to run throughout 2016, seeing the platform as a great way to promote its aim of ‘supporting better engagement between the UN and the public using technology’ and to engage the most dynamic UN staff online with events about ‘exploring digital opportunities for a better United Nations’.
The 2016 series will deliver events in several countries and engage multiple UN agencies and sponsors. You can contact the founder Max Kalis if you are interested to be a part of these events.
Details of the 2015 pilot event and news of the 2016 series is available at the UN Influx website.
